POF Shrink Film Sourcing from China: 1,650-Roll Middle East Order

A 1,650-roll POF shrink film order sourced for a Middle East buyer, covering 18 specifications, individual carton packing, pallet wrapping and container bracing.

POF shrink film pallets secured in an export container with an inflatable dunnage bag for a Middle East order

A packaging-material customer in the Middle East asked MAVORIX to find and coordinate a POF shrink film supplier in China for a mixed-width container order. The purchasing list covered 18 roll specifications rather than one standard size, so the job depended on keeping thickness, width, roll length, quantity and roll weight aligned throughout production and packing.

The completed order contained 1,650 rolls with a listed total weight of 23,976.7 kg. Each roll was protected individually in a carton, the cartons were stacked and stretch-wrapped on wooden pallets, and the finished pallets were loaded into one export container. Inflatable dunnage bags were placed in the remaining gaps to reduce pallet movement during transport.

The mixed order allowed the customer to stock several film widths for different product and pack sizes. The three thickness groups also used different roll lengths, which is why a purchasing list should never describe the requirement only as “one container of POF film.” Each line needs its own width, thickness, length, quantity and packing reference.

How to choose a POF shrink film supplier in China

POF, or polyolefin shrink film, is widely used for retail multipacks, printed products, household goods, food-contact applications where the selected grade is suitable, and general protective overwrapping. Overseas buyers may search for POF shrink film rolls, polyolefin shrink wrap film, center-folded POF film or single-wound POF film. These terms are related, but they do not always describe the same roll format.

When comparing POF shrink film manufacturers or suppliers, start with the product and shrink-wrapping line. The correct film is determined by the pack dimensions, sealing equipment and shrink tunnel rather than width or price per kilogram alone. A supplier also needs to confirm whether mixed specifications can run within one order and whether the minimum quantity applies per size, per thickness or to the combined purchase.

Before comparing POF shrink film suppliers, a buyer should confirm:

  • Flat or folded film format and the method used to state width.
  • Film thickness and acceptable tolerance.
  • Roll length, net film weight and gross packed weight.
  • Core inside diameter, core length and roll outside diameter.
  • Sealing method, shrink tunnel type and operating-temperature window.
  • Required shrink behavior in the machine and transverse directions.
  • Clarity, gloss, slip and perforation requirements where relevant.
  • Food-contact, recycled-content or destination documentation where applicable.
  • Carton marking, pallet size, maximum pallet height and unloading limits.
For a repeat order, the safest reference is an approved roll or a complete specification sheet tied to the customer’s actual packing line. Film that looks similar on a loose roll can behave differently during sealing and shrinking. For a new supplier, the buyer can request a trial roll and agree how width, thickness, roll length, sealing and shrink results will be checked before a wholesale POF film order proceeds.

Individual roll protection inside the carton

The packing sequence for this order used a dedicated carton for each roll. A molded plastic locator was positioned at the bottom before the wrapped roll was lowered into the box.

Bottom plastic locator placed inside a carton before packing a POF shrink film roll
The lower plastic locator centers the roll core and helps keep the roll away from the carton base.

The POF film roll was wrapped before it entered the carton. This provides a clean barrier between the film surface and the corrugated board during handling and storage.

A second locator and internal board were fitted above the roll before the carton was closed. Together, the upper and lower supports help locate the core and limit direct pressure on the film edges.

The upper support completes the two-point core-positioning arrangement before carton closure.

This type of packing is useful for long export routes because film rolls can be damaged by edge impact, core displacement, dust or moisture even when the outer carton still appears intact. The exact locator design should match the core and roll diameter rather than being treated as a universal insert.

Palletizing the mixed POF film order

After individual carton packing, the boxes were stacked on wooden pallets and wrapped as complete pallet loads. The finished pallets were tall, rectangular units that could be moved by forklift without handling cartons one by one.

Completed POF film pallets grouped outside the loading area before container stuffing.

For a mixed-width order, pallet labels should identify the specification and quantity inside. This reduces sorting work at destination and makes it easier to reconcile delivered pallets against the packing list. Pallet footprint, stack height and gross weight should also be agreed before production so the load plan does not depend on last-minute adjustments.

Container loading and air-bag bracing

The wrapped pallets were loaded by forklift and positioned as complete units inside the container.

Once the final pallets were in place, inflatable dunnage bags were used in the gap between adjacent pallet stacks. The bags filled otherwise open space and provided lateral restraint for the tall loads.

Dunnage bags are one part of a loading plan, not a substitute for suitable pallets and stable stacking. Bag size, inflation pressure, void width and contact surfaces need to suit the cargo. The loading team should also check door clearance, floor loading, pallet condition and how the receiver will unload the container.

MAVORIX support for POF shrink film sourcing from China

This shipment shows why packaging-material sourcing involves more than finding a price per kilogram. The commercial and technical documents need to use the same width, thickness, roll length and quantity, while the packing plan needs to protect each roll and use the container space safely.

MAVORIX can support overseas buyers with POF shrink film supplier search, manufacturer comparison, specification clarification, sample coordination, packing follow-up and export shipment coordination. We work as a China-side sourcing partner and do not present ourselves as the film manufacturer.

Middle East buyers can combine a POF film request with our China industrial sourcing, packaging industry sourcing, quality inspection coordination and export support services.

To discuss an order, send the film format, width, thickness, roll length, core size, quantities, application, packing-machine details and destination through the contact page.

FAQ

What information is needed to source POF shrink film rolls from China?

Provide the film format, width, thickness, roll length or net weight, core size, roll diameter limit, sealing and shrink equipment, required performance, quantity, packing and destination. A sample or approved technical sheet is useful for repeat orders.

Is center-folded POF shrink film the same as single-wound POF film?

No. Center-folded film is folded along its length and has two layers when unwound, while single-wound film is supplied as one flat web. Buyers should state the format and width convention clearly because the same width figure can describe a different usable film span.

What is the MOQ for wholesale POF shrink film rolls?

MOQ depends on film grade, thickness, width, roll format, production schedule and packing. For a mixed container, ask whether the minimum applies to each specification or whether several widths can be combined under one production order.

How many POF film rolls were included in this Middle East order?

The supplied order list contained 1,650 rolls across 18 specifications. Listed thicknesses were 15, 19 and 25 micron, with widths from 250 to 600 mm and a combined listed weight of 23,976.7 kg.

How was each POF film roll packed?

Each wrapped roll was placed in an individual corrugated carton. Plastic core locators and internal boards were fitted above and below the roll before the carton was closed.

How were the POF film pallets secured in the container?

The cartons were stacked on wooden pallets and stretch-wrapped. After loading, inflatable dunnage bags were placed in the gaps between pallet stacks to reduce lateral movement.

Can MAVORIX source mixed widths and thicknesses in one shipment?

MAVORIX can coordinate mixed-specification inquiries with suppliers and follow the approved packing list through production and loading. Minimum order quantities, production compatibility and packing arrangements still need confirmation for every specification.
