Prepare technical information
OEM manufacturing requires drawings, samples, material, dimensions, tolerances, surface treatment, application, expected annual quantity, and inspection criteria. The clearer the input, the better the supplier comparison.
Choose suppliers by process capability
Different OEM products require different processes such as CNC machining, casting, stamping, fabrication, molding, or assembly. The supplier should match the process and quality level required.
Control samples carefully
Sample approval should include dimension checks, material confirmation, function testing, surface review, packing, and documentation. Buyers should record the approved standard for mass production.
Watch for specification drift
OEM orders can fail when suppliers change material, process, or tolerance without clear approval. Keep written specifications and inspection criteria attached to the order.
Plan production and export follow-up
Confirm lead time, inspection timing, packing, labeling, export documents, and shipment coordination before production finishes.
